"My Chinese Heart": A Multi-ethnic Student Exchange Group in Shenzhen
On September 14, 2024, students and teachers from Bethel High School participated in a patriotic educational event, called “My Chinese Heart”, co-organized by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong and (LOCPG), the New Territories Association of Societies (NTAS), and the Luohu District Federation of Literary and Art Circles in Shenzhen (FLACSF). This program aims to boost Hong Kong students’ the understanding about Chinese culture and tradition, to nurture the patriotism among Hong Kong youth and strengthen the tie and collaboration between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
Our teachers and students engaged in various activities that highlight the cultural and economic collaboration between Shenzhen, Mainland China and Hong Kong. The teachers and the students enjoyed some delicious local cuisine and learned about a number of significant projects impacting Hong Kong and Shenzhen. They also had a chance to visit some iconic sites in Luohu, such as Meridian View Center and the Guangdong Water Supplies Exhibition Hall. After the event, students expressed that they were really proud of their national identity as a Chinese and planned to share their experience of this fantastic program to inspire patriotic enthusiasm among their peers.
