Student Affairs and Registration Department with Science Department - "Reptiles Workshop''
In order to broaden students' horizons and nurture their interest in life sciences, the Student Affairs and Registration Department, in collaboration with the Science Department, jointly organised a remarkable and engaging "Reptile Workshop", offering students a rare opportunity to encounter a fascinating array of reptiles up close.
For this workshop, we were honoured to invite a professional reptile handler team to our school, who brought along an impressive line-up of reptilian guests. These included the gentle giant Aldabra Tortoise; the captivating Chameleon, renowned for its remarkable colour-changing abilities and independently swivelling eyes; the alert and agile Tegu, often hailed as the "giant lizard of the Americas"; the docile and majestic Bearded Dragon; and the elegantly patterned Ball Python, a firm favourite among reptile enthusiasts.
During the workshop, the instructors provided clear and accessible explanations of each reptile's habits, natural habitat, dietary preferences, and ecological significance. Students were able to closely observe the unique anatomical features of these extraordinary creatures, and were even given the precious opportunity to touch and interact with them at close range. The experience evoked countless gasps of amazement and excitement throughout the session.
The activity successfully dispelled many of the students' preconceived notions and fears regarding reptiles, allowing them to view these often-misunderstood animals in an entirely new light, while deepening their appreciation for biodiversity and animal conservation. Through such experiential learning opportunities, we hope to plant in our students' hearts the seeds of a lifelong passion for science and a profound respect for all living things.
