JPC AYP 2026 at Bethel High School Progress Smoothly

2026-03-08

Bethel High School has maintained a long-standing close partnership with the Junior Police Call (JPC) Activity Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force. Recently, the relevant courses of the Expeditions section for the Bronze and Silver Level of the Junior Police Call, Award for Young People (JPC AYP) 2026 have been carried out smoothly. The Silver Level theoretical course, the first outdoor training course, and the Bronze Level theoretical course have been successfully completed. Non-Chinese speaking students of our school also took an active part in the courses with great enthusiasm.

Considering the actual situation that some of our students study across the border, the Hong Kong Police Operating Authority specially arranged three professional officers, namely CHOW Nai-leung, Au Siu Pui and TAN Chi-fung, to come to our school to teach the Bronze and Silver Level participants for their convenience of learning. Combining with the core requirements of the Expeditions section, the instructors explained theoretical knowledge including map reading, safety precautions and emergency handling. They integrated theories with real outdoor scenarios to facilitate students' understanding and lay a solid foundation for subsequent practical training.

After the theoretical courses, the Silver Level participants headed to the Man Yee Activity and Training Centre and Sai Kung Country Park on 7th March 2026, embarking on a two-day and one-night outdoor training trip. Centered on navigation, this first outdoor practical training allowed participants to translate the classroom knowledge of map reading and compass application into practical abilities, effectively enhancing their outdoor operation and contingency response skills.

The courses not only enabled participants to acquire professional knowledge of expeditions, but also promoted cross-cultural communication. Non-Chinese speaking students and local students studied and discussed together in the same class, deepening mutual understanding through interaction and fostering a harmonious and inclusive campus atmosphere.

Bethel High School will continue to deepen its cooperation with the Hong Kong Police Force, and carry out the subsequent outdoor training and assessment of the Bronze and Silver Level courses in an orderly manner. We will provide more opportunities for students to challenge themselves and enhance their comprehensive qualities, empowering their holistic development through police-school collaboration.
