S.6 Students Shine on Screen in Prestigious Drama Competitions

2026-10-30

In a remarkable display of dedication, creativity, and theatrical talent, our S6 students recently showcased their digital storytelling skills in two highly competitive city-wide video drama events: the Education Bureau’s “Speak Your Mind!” and the South China Morning Post’s “StoryJam.” Balancing the rigorous academic demands of their senior year with countless hours of rehearsing, filming, and editing, these students demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the performing arts and a true passion for multimedia storytelling.

The road to the final cut was paved with intense preparation, technical troubleshooting, and incredible teamwork. Preparing for these distinct video-taking competitions required the students to adapt traditional stage acting techniques for the screen. They spent weeks meticulously mastering their scripts, perfecting their vocal projection, and fine-tuning their framing and on-camera presence. Because a camera captures every minor detail, our young actors had to focus heavily on the nuances of their performances. By utilizing subtle facial expressions, dynamic body language, and precise emotional pacing, they successfully brought their characters to life and forged a genuine connection with viewers right through the lens.

Beyond their acting talents, the students also had to embrace the technical challenges of video production. They took charge of their own shoots, making critical decisions about camera angles, lighting, background aesthetics, and audio clarity to ensure their narratives were as polished as possible. We are incredibly proud of our S6 students. Not only have they represented our school with excellence, but they have also developed invaluable, modern life skills—such as digital literacy, effective multimedia communication, collaborative problem-solving, and self-confidence—that will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavors. Congratulations to all the participating students on a truly stellar and innovative digital drama season!
