Assessment
Student performance in the Design and Technology course will be evaluated through a combination of the following assessment methods:
- Design Portfolios: Students will create and maintain comprehensive design portfolios showcasing their work, process, and reflections.
- Hands-on Demonstrations: Students will demonstrate their practical skills and knowledge through the creation of physical prototypes and models.
- Project-based Assessments: Students will be evaluated on their ability to work collaboratively, apply design thinking, and deliver effective technological solutions to complex problems.
- Written Assignments and Presentations: Students will engage in written work, such as design reports and research papers, as well as oral presentations to communicate their ideas and findings.
The assessment methods for the DAT subject encompass both formative and summative assessments:
- Formative assessments are conducted through classroom observations, homework feedback, group discussions, etc., aiming to provide timely guidance and assistance to students based on their learning progress and issues.
- Summative assessments, on the other hand, consist of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) and school-based assessments, which evaluate students' mastery and application of course content. The DSE is organized by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, while school-based assessments are designed and implemented by schools according to curriculum requirements.
